Storage refresh, ERP to SAP S/4HANA migration

Transforming IT from edge to core to cloud

One of the best-selling range of mineral water in India has around 14 bottling facilities in different regions around the country. The company fills 10,000 plastic bottles and the majority of their business and operational processes such as invoicing and shipping run on ERP.

The Challenge

The enterprise wanted to refresh its legacy infrastructure and deploy an edge computing application to improve demand forecasting. Intending to provide water sustainably, they also needed a more accurate, automated measurement system at source, and a more integrated data management across the whole plant.

The approach

Chavans – as a platinum partner of Dell Technologies, introduced the Dell product, Intense, which had the expertise to build an SAP Leonardo cloud-based edge computing application. The aim was to collect data continuously in real-time from 300 sensors and measure the exact amount of water to pump out of the source and bring it to the bottling plant just in time.

The Solution

The organisation decided to adopt Dell EMC Unity All-Flash storage along with Dell EMC PowerEdge servers for the migration to S/4HANA. As a result of the new platform, system restore times reduce from one day to half an hour, and data retrieval rates increase by a factor of 1,000.
The migration from SAP ERP (ECC) to SAP S/4HANA happened over the following 1-2 years to access its powerful new features. Parts of the infrastructure were upgraded every year to ensure it remains up to date and that Dell Technologies hardware was certified to run SAP S/4HANA.

Blade Server

Blade servers are the latest servers. Rack Server

A rack server is positioned in a bay inside a rack and related equipment’s like storage, security, and network appliances are mounted above it saving data-centre floor space. Rack servers are typically general-purpose servers that support a broad range of applications and computing infrastructure.
It is easier to manage connections and maintain the system as all components of the system are located in the same place. Rack servers can be expanded with additional memory, storage, and processors. It also provides great flexibility since it enables you to install several servers in the same bay, one for each application or function, for example, email, professional software, storage, etc.

Tower Server

Tower Servers are low cost and can be customized and upgraded based on business needs as they come with minimal configuration. Tower servers can be configured as general-purpose servers, communication servers, web servers, or network servers that integrates using HTTP protocols. It also costs roughly the same as a desktop computer.
